16 CFR 1501 Any small parts (like bottle caps, spouts) which may be a choking hazard for children shall not be easily detached. A force of greater than 20 lbf (90 N) is suggested. Pull to failure and report actual.
Dishwasher Safe

Standard Measurement per Criteria The product must resist 25 dishwasher cycles on bottom rack in a standard household dishwasher at a temperature of 67°C ± 12°C (152.5°F ± 21.5°F) using Cascade powder detergent (not Cascade Complete) for a full wash, rinse and dry cycle time of approximately 55 - 90 minutes. 20-25g of detergent must be used for 18.9 - 22.7L (5-6gal) of total water consumption; pre-rinse, wash and rinse. No noticeable color changes are allowed; peeling of paint or logo is not allowed. No distorting, cracking or leaking between liner and outer is acceptable. Body and lid (if applicable) must assemble and function properly after DW cycles per lid fit requirement.
Hand Wash Only

Standard Measurement per Criteria Prepare soak solution by adding detergent to 43.3°±5°C (110°±10°F) water at a concentration of 1 : 100 (detergent : water). Place sample into separate hot water bath at 70°±2°C (158°±°4F) and let soak for 2 minutes. Remove sample from hot water and place into detergent soak solution. Let soak for 20 minutes. Remove sample from soak solution and rub the surface (including artwork and decals) with soft cloth 20 times. Rinse the sample with 25°±5°C (77°±10°F) water and visually check the appearance. Repeat for 6 total cycles. Record any appearance change with pictures.
Microwave Safe (if claimed, otherwise product must permanently state “Do Not Microwave”) Standard Measurement per Criteria Use only the samples that have completed dish wash testing. Fill with water and bring to boil, continue for another 3 minutes. Repeat another 9 cycles (10 total). Examine all parts. No chipping, peeling, fading, spotting, warping, or color change is allowable. Body and lid (if applicable) must assemble and function properly.
Microwave Safe for Reheating (if claimed to be microwave safe) ASTM C1607-12 Measure internal volume of cup. Fill cup half way with ambient tap water. Mark test points on the vessel in 3 positions (120° angles) around the outer rim of the lip-rim area. Mark test points of top, center, and bottom of the handle. Microwave for 2 minutes at max power. Remove at end of cycle and test handle within 25 seconds, then measure three points on the lip-rim. Handle temperature or grab zone must have temperatures of 60°C (140°F) or less and all body temperature measurements must be 121°C (250°F) or less. Reference ASTM for detailed information.

Visual Check The bottle shall be air-tight. Fill product with 80% water and tighten cap. Shake bottle in various orientations and then place upside down on tissue paper for 1 h. No leakage is allowed.
Spill Resistance (non-sealed w/ lid) Standard Measurement per Criteria Fill product with water, assemble lid, make sure drink hole is closed or sealed (if applicable). Gently lay product on its side on a flat surface. Product must not lose more than 5mL of liquid in 30 seconds.

Standard Measurement per Criteria Fill product to ¾ of stated capacity and close or seal drink hole. Shake roughly from side to side on a flat surface for 15 seconds. Product must not loose more than 10 ml of water during testing.
Leakage Standard Measurement per Criteria Fill the container with ink-stained water up to its maximum capacity and stand on a white blotted paper for 24hr. There shall be no visible stain mark on the paper.
Lid Fit – O-Ring Requirement (if applicable) Standard Measurement per Criteria Circular O-ring style gasket is required for sealing lids unless another gasket style is required due to unique lid design.
Lid Fit (Security) (if applicable) Visual Fill cup ¼” (6.4 mm) from top with Starbucks coffee and 1 oz of Half and Half. The coffee must be at a minimum temperature of 190° F (87.8° C) and aged for less than one hour from brew time. Attach lid to cup and tilt the cup at an angle of 45 degrees for two minutes.
Standard: No release of lid or leakage around edges allowed.
Note: Seal sip openings as necessary to perform test. Leakage at steam escape hole is not considered failure.
Lid Fit - Thread Rotation Requirement (if applicable) Standard Measurement per Criteria After thread engagement and before complete seal occurs, a minimum lid rotation of 180° (1/2 twist) is required.

When empty, product shall withstand 3 drops from 1.0m (3.2ft) height at 3 different orientations onto a linoleum covered concrete floor. No functional damage is allowed. Body and lid (if applicable) must assemble and function properly per lid fit requirement.

Standard Measurement per Criteria Handle shall withstand a static load of 22.6 Kgf (50.0 lbf) [for both SS and plastic body items] applied over 20 seconds. Handle must not break or separate from brackets / body. Brackets must not come detached from body.
Handle Strength (loading) Standard Measurement per Criteria Handle shall stay in tact before and after heating.
Room Temperature: Load the product with a weight 2X the water capacity in the center of the mug and lift the product.
Heating: Heat product at 350°F/ 176.7 °C for 1 hour, remove sample from oven and immediately load the product with a weight 2X the water capacity in the center of the mug and lift the product. Handle shall not show any signs of damage.
Handle Strength (impact) Standard Measurement per Criteria Handle shall stay in tact after being subjected to an impact force from a 3oz steel ball held at a distance of 3 inches from the handle, released to impact at a 90º angle on the handle of the sample. Repeat 2 more times at various orientations. No cracking, chipping, or breakage allowed.
