2.将样品水平放置（即长边水平短边与水平垂直）,从自由端算起，分别在50mm和300mm处做标记，测试时用煤气本生灯施加火焰于自由端。
如果是测试样品的明燃时间则施加火源于自由端10次，每次5S
如果是测试样品的火焰传播速率，则施加火源的时间延长为30S
测定火焰传播于两个标记线之间的时间t，根据公式V=250/t计算火焰传播速率，并以此对材料进行分级。
